Inhana Organic Research Foundation (IORF)
Inhana Organic Research Foundation (IORF) – the ONE & the ONLY!
Organic Agriculture, is supposed to be the primary model of Sustainable Agriculture available at present. However, its market share has never been able to surpass the 1% mark (whether domestically – for any particular crop, or as a whole – or globally). This has been due to its flawed approach of ‘quantitative replacement’ of artificial chemical inputs used in commonly practised chemical-intensive agriculture. Only a comprehensive agricultural technology – that is able to address both soil and crop related issues through ‘qualitative replacement’ of artificial chemical inputs – can induce true sustainability to organic agriculture. Inhana Rational Farming (IRF) Technology of IORF is the ONLY agricultural technology that is scientifically validated, practically demonstrated and academically documented to ensure actual deliverance of Sustainable Organic Agriculture.
IORF – The Unique Sustainability Enabler!
Sustainable Agriculture can be truly sustainable, attending all dimensions of the term, only if it can ensure both Economic & Ecological Sustainability at the same time! And considering the ground-level practicalities of the Indian agricultural sector – acute fragmentation of agricultural land holdings; overwhelming majority (>82%) of small & marginal farmers; economic & social marginalization of farming communities and so on – ensuring economic sustainability of the producers (which, again, is tangible rather than ecological sustainability) is of paramount importance. Conventional organic farming causes massive crop-loss that not only adversely affects the economic returns of the farmers, but also inflates the consumer prices of such products – making them unaffordable to the vast majority of common populace of India. Once again, it is ONLY the IRF Technology that can ensure both Economic and Ecological Sustainability simultaneously for any interventional project!
IORF – The End-To-End Sustainability Solution Provider!
The sustainability of Sustainable Agriculture is often questioned. The primary reason behind this, of course, is lack of proper assessment mechanisms. But the things are diametrically opposite when it comes to IORF. This seminal organization, during the course of its existence over the last two decades and more, provides end-to-end solutions for all matters related to Sustainable Organic Agriculture. The spectrum of IORF’s offerings in this domain may be enumerated as follows:
- Sustainable Organic Agriculture Pathways; comprising of detailed technical protocols for a comprehensive dual approach involving:
- Soil Health Management; and
- Plant Health Management
- All necessary tools and indices for scientific measurement of the impacts of our interventional models in Sustainable Organic Agriculture; like:
- Soil Quality Index
- Pesticide Pollution Index
- Microbial Activity Potential of soils; and so on
- Specific and customizable models of intervention, like:
- Clean Food Net Zero (CFNZ)
- Clean Tea Net Zero (CTNZ)
- Clean Seed Net Zero (CSNZ)
- Waste to Wealth (bio-conversion of Methane-emitting landfill agro-wastes)
- Scientific standards for calculation of Carbon Footprint of agriculture; named ‘Agricultural Carbon Footprint Assessment (ACFA)’ Standards.
- Evaluation of actual Carbon Footprint of any intervention undertaken by IORF through automated SACFA Toolkit, scientifically developed by our partnering organization i-NoCarbon Limited, London.
- Certification for Net GHG Emission (or sequestration) resulting from any interventional project, from i-Nocarbon.
- Colorimetric Assay Test of the final produce to scientifically ensure NO residual traces of any harmful chemicals in the consumable food.
IORF – Achievements, Accolades & Associates
For any privately held, non-academic Indian entity like IORF, it is a most unique feat to have developed a rich repertoire of more than 86 research publications on its proprietary technologies (viz. Novcom and Inhana Rational Farming[IRF]) in national and international agri-science journals of repute; some other significant milestones achieved by IORF are:
- IRF Technology was adjudged the best “Organic Package of Practice” under the Food & Agriculture Organization (FAO) of The UN – Common Fund for Commodities (CFC) of FAO – Tea Board of India (TBI) Project in all three categories i.e. Yield Performance, Soil Development and Economics; in 2012.
- World’s first carbon-neutral tea estate. This tea estate at West Jalinga in Assam became a finalist in the World Tea Awards (2018) in the “Sustainable Tea Initiatives” category.
- Research presentation at the 19th Organic World Congress 2018 on “Climate Smart Agriculture” using IRF Technology – the only paper to be selected from India in the Ecology segment.
- Organic paddy seed (indigenous aromatic rice varieties of Bengal) and organic vegetable seed development under IRF Technology in collaboration with Visva Bharati University, Bidhan Chandra Krishi Viswavidyalaya and NABARD; 2017-2020.
- Production of pesticide-free Clean Vegetables in 6 villages of Haringhata Block, Nadia, West Bengal under the Clean Food Program of the IBM-IORF Sustainability Project, since 2021, in collaboration with IBM India.
Research presentation at the 4th Organic Asia Congress 2021 by IFOAM; on Development of Ecologically and Economically Sustainable Organic Vegetable Seeds.
Throughout its journey, over the last two decades and more, IORF has been privileged to associate itself with many eminent, like-minded organizations and entities.
